Someone else's painting in the window
Artist: Hannah Broadhead
Someone else's painting in the window 2024, oil on canvas
Size: 50cm x 40cm
This painting explores the idea of being overlooked as an artist, there is someone else's painting in the window ,I am just part of the reflection. There is a feeling of transparency within the painting, there is a landscape but it is intermingled with the still life set up in the window and a self portrait that can be easily missed. It is a painting that has no solid focal point, and as an artist it can feel that I have yet to make my mark.
I am a full time artist, recently exhibiting with the RBSA , Drawing Prize 2023 and Portrait prize 2024. I was featured on SKY Portrait Artist of the Year 2023. My work focuses on human connections/observations and deep rooted ideas especially in my self portraits as to where I place myself within a space / art /mentally / expectations of others.
I am continually pushing myself in painting and drawing , experimenting with colour and textures and grounds so that my techniques are constantly evolving.
