Nasim II

£350.00

Artist: Talia Giles

'Nasim' Acrylic on linen, 30cm x 40cm

I am a visual artist and creative producer based in Bedford, UK, and have recently moved back to more traditional practice. Both painting from my submission are from a series exploring the sensitivities of how we as people are portrayed within portraiture. Often at our most honest and vulnerable, the monochrome palette and gentle layering of paint help highlight the fragilities of each person in that moment in time. I'm drawn to images within which I can push and pull the narrative using paint, and harness the power of light and dark within a composition.

'Nasim' is a professional life and portrait model, who I find myself drawn back to time and time again. This painting strayed away from the monochrome palette with the inclusion of some diluted magentas which resulted in a more ethereal feel, yet somehow showing an even more vulnerable side to Nasim's natural confidence.
